The Sandflies turned over the greens on Sunday to Blue’s Navy Day and what a huge success with the 3 greens full around 2 weeks ago. An excellent response from the people of Ballina and surrounding towns. Was proud as punch to see such a mixture of inlaws and outlaws turn up and made the day a day to remember. Well done to all in attendance including the Cadets, Officers and staff of the TS Lismore, their moms and dads, friends and foes alike. Blue McNally must get the special mention and being the excellent organiser he is showed out for sure plus his merry band of helpers that turn up early as to get things prepared for the wonderful day. He certainly got a great response with donations from the businesses in town and private people alike. Not sure how much was made for the TS Lismore but as I understand that all money raised on the day goes to that cause. A vey well done indeed to all involved and can’t forget the staff of the Ballina RSL Bowling Club who were kept going all day. Many thanks to Greenskeeper Duncan who was on deck before dawn getting the greens done. Next week is a Sandflies home game. Greg Danvers will be writing up for a while while I am away and many thanks to him for that. Cheers.
