Sunday 18 September: Wasn’t much of a Sunday morning with constant drizzle and showers so it was decided that a few games of Kelly Pool on the 2 snooker tables in Ballina RSL Bowling Club was the go till the gloom lifted a bit to get a game in. The green keeper Duncan gave the go ahead and the Sandflies took to the Navy Green around 0930 and Preso Col and Treasurer Alby waived the green fees as it was not known how many ends could be played before the showers came back in. Pretty good call that one as most only got in 12 ends at the most but was enjoyable while it lasted. Well done to the 24 diehards who enjoyed the short game and had some beers with their mates during and after the game. If the game was called off the Ballina RSL Bowling Club would have been the loser with the loss of trade that the Sandflies bring in most Sunday mornings. Good decision and well done Col and Alby for that one. Spearo asked me to mention the 27 to 6 score on rink 1 so guess what side Spearo was on. Next week is a home game and the week after is a visit from the Moree Travelling Bowlers on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Men’s Club are looking for more players for the Saturday game and a list is on the board. Till next week is take care fellas.
